Discussion / recommendations / next steps…
Lots of loops into the fact that, historically, dance and poetry were not separate entities. The separation is artificial and much more contemporary.
Some discussion emerged from questions about text and movement and dance and poetry. While text can be anything written, poetry involves an arrangement towards a resulting affect- ‘it makes something in your mind.”
There was discussion of craft- craft as specific skills, craft as something evoking kids play, craft as something we do in realisation of our ideas. Craft was put forward as an areas where all forms of making meet.
We discussed the way that something is received: the package, the cover image, the dramaturgy of the piece. We think much of the origin in making, but can miss the received gestalt of the Ingram we make.
Questions around interdisciplinary work evoked ideas of listening, not understanding, not knowing and realising the value in these experiences.
“Art invites us in” using any and everything it can.
